Human Plasma Datasets from Novartis - GeneProt Collaboration Available

Thus far two of the human plasma datasets from the Novartis - GeneProt collaboration are made available at PeptideAtlas. Novartis has donated 5 million spectra in two batches. The two datasets were generated by GeneProt, Inc. using their MicroProt system. Beginning with 2.5 liters of plasma pooled from dozens of normal patients, each sample was extensively fractionated and analyzed with a fleet of 38 Bruker ion trap mass spectrometers. The first dataset ("MicroProt") was received in October 2005 and yielded 300+ thousand spectrum identifications among 2.7 million MS/MS spectra in 38,000 mass spec runs. The second dataset ("MicroProt2") derived from 2.5 liters of pooled plasma from normal female patients was donated in June 2006. It yielded 480 thousand spectrum identifications from 2.4 million MS/MS spectra in 7,500 mass spec runs.
